Joseph J. Rigney

Rigney, Joseph J., age 79 of Providence died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Roger Williams Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen P. "Kay" (Twohig) Rigney for 54 years. A life long residence of Providence, he was the son of the late John F. and Catherine C. (Madden) Rigney. He was employed as a dispatcher for Texaco Oil Co. for 25 years, and with the State of RI for 10 years. He was a 1950 graduate of LaSalle Academy, and was also a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by devoted children, John F. "Jack" Rigney, Esq. and wife Karen of Briarcliff Manor, NY; Joseph M. Rigney and wife Stephanie of Providence; and Patricia A. Reilly and husband Bernie of Greenville. He was the cherished grandfather of Claire E. Rigney, Elaine P. Rigney, Michael J. Rigney, Sarah Rigney-Francisco and husband George, Joseph M. Rigney, Jr. and wife Noi, Hannah L. Rigney, Jeremiah J. Reilly and Eric M. Reilly. Great-grandfather of Sean Francisco and Isabel Francisco. He was the brother of the late John F. Rigney and Mary M. Walker. His funeral will be held on Monday, at 8:45 am from The Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home 331 Smith St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in the Church of Blessed Sacrament , Academy Ave, Providence. A graveside burial will be held in St. Ann Cemetery in Cranston.Visiting hours, Sunday 4 - 8pm.
