

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Stephano and Maria (Sorrentino) Femino. She was the wife of Albert Peter Martineau for 61 years.
Josephine was the beloved mother of 7 children: Clare Dunn and her husband, Jerry, Lawrence Martineau and his wife Rosalie, Donna Amaral and her husband Thomas, Leonard Martineau, Joseph Martineau and his wife Catherine, John Martineau and his wife Patricia, Steven Martineau and his wife Precilinda, grandmother of Michael Dunn and his wife, Janet, Robert Dunn and his wife, Jennifer, Peter Martineau and his wife Sarah, Brian Martineau and his wife Ashley, Cheryl Huntley and her husband Ernest, James Martineau, Stephanie, Jessica and Kevin Martineau and Daniel, Jason, David and Eric Martineau; great-grandmother of Nicholas Dunn, Julia Dunn, Madison Dunn, and Lukas and Liliana Huntley and soon to come another great-grandson due in April; sister of Placido Femino, Steffa Lomastro, Catherine Cavalieri and the late Anna Femino, Stephano Femino, Jr., Rose Mary Femino, Jennie Passarelli, Mary Gemma, Santa Bowman, Peter Squillacci, Sr. and Antonio Squaillacci, Jr..
Mrs. Martineau was a devout catholic and was a member of the Legion of Mary and the Catholic Family Movement of St. Edward’s Church.
Visitation will be held Monday, 4-7 p.m. with a funeral on Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by interment in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
Josephine’s mission in life was to feed everyone she loved. She was fond of saying “Every day is Thanksgiving and every meal is a feast” and that saying became the mantra at the family's annual reunion.
