

Judith Adaskin Barry died peacefully in New Bridge on the Charles, in Dedham, MA at the age of 96 after a long bout with dementia. She was born on January 4, 1930 in Fall River, MA to Edward and Ethel Adaskin, the middle of 3 girls. Judy is survived by her children and their spouses, Ellen Barry Fallon and Ray Fallon of Chestnut Hill, MA, Beth Barry and Daniel Sussman of New York, NY and Ed and Peggy Barry of Dartmouth, MA; her grandchildren and their spouses, Adam and Christine Barry, Ben and Rachel Barry, Matthew Sussman and Margaux Wooster, Jake and Julia (Klepner) Sussman and Emma Fallon; and her great grandchildren Hannah, Henry, Gavin, Hailey, Jack, Lyden and Teddy.
Judy attended Miss Lubitsky’s Nursery School, Mary Burnham Girl’s Prep School, Connecticut College for Women earning a BA in Economics and University of Massachusetts earning an advanced degree in Education.
After college Judy live and worked in Boston, MA until her father passed away and she returned to Fall River to live with her mother. Shortly thereafter, she met and married Nathan D. Barry (Nate). They were happily married for 60 years and lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth MA and Palm Beach Gardens FL. She and Nate loved boating, enjoyed travelling the world with friends and were snowbirds for 20 years. Judy was an active member of her community, she volunteered for Brandeis Women’s Committee, the New Bedford Symphony and the Jewish Federation. She was a Test Administrator in the Head Start program, a Girl Scout Leader and an avid tennis player. She was a lifetime member of Tifereth Israel Synagogue in New Bedford, MA and Temple Beth El in Fall River, MA.
Judy was an affable, upbeat person, a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She always contributed her time and energy to her family, communities and to her many, longtime friends. She spent the last years of her life at New Bridge on the Charles in Dedham, MA surrounded by a very special team of personal aids, nurses, doctors and religious leaders. We are all better for having known her and we miss her already.
