Kathleen Sullivan

Sullivan, Kathleen "Kate" (Sousa), 58, passed away February 9, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Peter Sullivan. Born in Providence, Kate was the daughter of Joseph. J Jr. and Patricia A. (Rinaldi) Sousa. Besides her husband and parents, she is survived by three daughters, Gwen Oppert, Erin Jones and Kelly Headen, a brother, Joseph R. Sousa, two sisters, Elizabeth Tully and Maureen Sousa, and her grandchildren, Timothy, Wayne, Andrew, Kiernan and Rhys.Kate's greatest pride in her life were her girls and her grandchildren. Her happiest times were at the beach with a good book or splashing with the kids. She grew up playing softball, coached by her father, which created an inseparable bond. She found great pleasure in seeing everyone smile by cooking them a delicious meal, which she turned into a career. Most recently she was the head cook for the state administration building. A visitation will be held on Monday, 4 - 7 PM in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday at 10 AM in Mary Mother of Mankind Church, 25 4th St., North Providence. Burial will be private.
