

Larissa Michelle Downing died on October 9, 2016 at the age of 24. She was the daughter of Ann Downing of North Providence, RI and Michael Sergiacomi of Apache Junction, AZ. She was the sister of Lacy Downing of Lincoln, CA. Born in Providence, RI, Larissa was a life-long resident of Marieville, North Providence, RI. She attended Marieville Elementary School, Birchwood Middle School, and was a graduate of North Providence High School. She was a Girl Scout, an altar server at the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary and participated in the parish Youth Ministry. She also played basketball and softball for the Town of North Providence in her youth. She attended the Community College of Rhode Island in pursuit of a career in criminal justice. She worked as a food server and bartender at several local establishments. Larissa had a charming, vivacious personality. She was very personable and always generous with her smile. She was smart, sassy, bold and brassy. She won the hearts of all who knew her. Larissa was the granddaughter of the late Edward T. Downing, the late Rita (Papineau) Downing, Louis Sergiacomi and the late Jeannine Sergiacomi. She was the niece of Edward and Deborah Downing of Greenville, RI; Mary Downing Young of Tampa, FL; Ken Young; Rita and Todd Wickner of Lutz, FL; Joseph Downing of Providence, RI; Denise Sullivan and Bob Horner of Orlando, FL; the late Carl Sullivan; Cynthia Downing and Michael Lees of North Kingstown, RI; Louis Sergiacomi of Littleton, MA; Paul and Denise Sergiacomi of East Lyme, CT; Donna and Miltiades Makavos of Apache Junction, AZ; Cindy Vadenais of Chandler, AZ. She was the cousin of Meghan Downing, Andrew Downing, John Downing, Benjamin Young, Jennifer Young, Michael Young, Daniel Wickner, Joanna Wickner, Jeffrey Sullivan, David Sullivan, Louis Sergiacomi, Elger Sergiacomi, Anthony Sergiacomi, Jeannine Sergiacomi, Nicholas Sergiacomi, Vassillios Makavos, Dimitri Makavos, and Lou Sergiacomi. In addition to her immediate family, Larissa leaves behind large extended families of cousins that she was close to as well as numerous friends. She will be missed by many. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 25 at the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 959 Nooseneck Hill Rd, West Greenwich, RI. Visiting hours will be Monday 4-8 pm. at the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, RI. Donations in her memory may be made to Teen Challenge, 572 Elmwood Avenue, Providence, RI 02907, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Larissa was a writer and left a few instructions for her funeral. In her own words, "I love you ALL for the support but this should truly be a celebration of life not morn of Death --> NO BLACK OUTFITS I WANT EVERYONE WEARING WHITE." Her mother realizes that this is not a practical request for most people, including herself. However, if it is convenient for anyone attending her funeral to wear something with at least a little white in it Larissa would appreciate it.
