

North Kingstown Leon B. "Lee" Rice, 69, of North Kingstown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Virginia Giuliani-Rice. They were married for 21 years.Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Clifford A. and Joyce A. (McGowan) Rice.Prior to retirement he was employed as a Transportation Security Officer at the T. F. Green Airport for the past 8 years, retiring in October 2011. Before working for TSA he was a sales manager for National Plating Company, in Providence for over 20 years.Lee was very active in youth sports in East Greenwich, where he coached in both baseball and hockey. He was the past president of the East Greenwich youth hockey league. He was also the past president of the East Greenwich Jaycees. Lee was a big New England sports fan, he followed the Red Sox, Bruins, and Patriots sports teams, and traveled throughout the country following and cheering his beloved Notre Dame Fighting Irish football team. Lee was also an avid golfer. He was a long time member of The North Kingstown Golf Course and was Past and Present President of many golf leagues in West Warwick and North Kingstown. Besides his wife, he leaves his five children, Leon B. Rice, Jr., and his wife Daria, of Brewster, MA, Jeffrey P. Rice, and his wife, Donna, of Orange Park, FL, Keith Giuliani and Marisa Guiliani, both of East Greenwich, and Christina Santos, and her husband, Brian, of Bristol; his loving grandchildren, Beth Ann Santos, of Dartmouth, MA, Brandon and Gavin Rice, of Brewster, MA, and Dominic and Damian Rice, of Orange Park, FL. He was the brother of Clifford E. Rice, of East Greenwich; and was also the brother of the late Arthur A., and Daniel F. Rice. Lee also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.His funeral will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt. 117 - Exit 10 off I-95) Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Saint Francis de Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown. Burial will be private. Visiting hours will be Thursday, from 4-7pm.
