

She was the wife of the late Norman L. Allard. Born in Pawtucket, RI, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Alexina (Frechette) Fournier.
Leona was the loving mother of 3 daughters, Jeannine Shaw, Diane Reddington and Pauline Dwyer (Thomas); devoted grandmother of Lori Smith, Dawn Sylvia, Jessica Fox, Lisa Sorel, Stacey Serdynski, Kristy Burns, Jennifer Speaks, Sarah Dwyer and the late Kimberly Shaw; cherished great-grandmother of Ethan, Brielle, Olivia, Samuel, Lance, Andrew, Paige, Hannah, Lucas, Kyla, Anthony, TJ, Aidan and Thomas. She was the sister of Aline LeBlanc and the late Raoul, Robert, Ozzy, Roland, Raymond and Conrad Fournier, Connie Vilandre and Ora Ciras.
Leona was a devout Catholic, and was a longtime parishioner of St. Pius V Church. She was a talented seamstress. She sewed all of her daughters’ prom gowns and wedding dresses, and made numerous doll clothes for her daughters and granddaughters. Leona enjoyed sewing pillows for women with breast cancer, making afghans for the elderly and sewing costumes for school plays. At Christmas, she would always adopt a family. She also loved to cook, and especially enjoyed making crepes for her whole family.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 4-7 p.m. with her funeral on Friday at 9 a.m. in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, 240 Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Darlington Assisted Living Activities Fund, 123 Armistice Blvd., Pawtucket, RI 02860.
