Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was a son of the late John and Carrie (Bascum) Stewart, and brother of the late Eliza and Francis Page, Dorothy Cooper, Martha Gay, S.T. Bumer, John D., John B., Frank, and M.L. Stewart.
Lonnie was the former husband of Christine Stewart whom he maintained a close relationship with until his final days. He was the father of Timothy J. Stewart, Carnell Stewart, Yolanda Fay Stewart and the late Robert E. Stewart and Lonnie Ray Stewart. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including his niece Norma Thomas and great-nephew Elijah Page who took care of him for many years.
Lonnie will be remembered for his loving and caring nature, his charisma, and being a ladies’ man. He loved to innocently flirt with many beautiful women, including his nurses at the nursing home. He enjoyed drinking Christian Brothers Brandy and liked to indulge in his favorite foods of sweet potatoes, and franks and beans. Despite being blind in one eye, Lonnie was always one step ahead of any tricks his nieces and nephews tried to play on him.
All funeral services and burial will be private at the request of the family.
