She was born in Providence, R.I. on April 23, 1946, a daughter of the late Alfred and Anna Biccari.
Lorraine worked for Private Secretary Inc in Cranston for many years as a medical transcriptionist. She was also involved with Cranston Child Find, as well other educational programs.
Her family and friends were everything to her. Sweet, good-natured and invariably kind, she was a source of joy to everyone that knew her, even into to her final years battling degenerative neurological illness. Her husband James and both sons embraced the increasingly difficult levels of care involved so that she could remain at home.
We would like to thank the team at HopeHealth Hospice for their sustained support in the face of such a daunting task. Our nurse, Valerie Toure, always provided comfort and brought serenity not only to her patient, but to the entire family. We especially offer the utmost thanks to Barbara DiVona, a true friend whose love and devotion has unwaveringly endured since their youth.
Lorraine is survived by her sons James S. Benkosky Jr. and Eric J. Benkosky. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Benkosky and her sister, Brenda Brennan.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at Saint Matthew Church, corner of Elmwood and Park Avenues in Cranston at 10:00 am on Wednesday December 15th. A memorial reception will follow at 12:00 pm at The Knights of Columbus Cranston RI Council #1738 located at 70 Pettaconsett Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920.
