She was the wife of the late William J. Reardon. Born in Somerville, MA, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Lillian (Mehegan) O’Rourke.
Marie was the beloved mother of John J. Reardon and his wife Maria, Alane M. Reardon, Marie R. Kobar and her husband Michael, Helen L. Reardon and her partner Kevin; loving grandmother of Jennifer Fortune, Brian Fortune, Patrick Reardon, Evan Presnol, Brendan Reardon, Madeline Kobar, Nickolas Presnol, William Kobar, Stephanie Reardon, and Sophia Kobar; great-grandmother of Devin Stuckey, Jaelynn Fortune, Darrian Upchurch, Corbin Dion-Presnol, and Elaine-Joan Felauto; sister of Patrick J. O’Rourke Jr.; and the aunt of Kathy, Maureen, Tommy, Omar, Anthony and Shannon O’Rourke. She was the mother of the late Patricia A. Fortune and sister of the late Helen O’Rourke-Bergeron.
Marie worked for many years as a candy striper and later as a CNA for the American Red Cross, before continuing her career at A.T. Cross Manufacturing. Full of life and strength, Marie was honest, direct, and truly one of a kind. She lived life on her own terms, unapologetically herself, a bright soul with an unmistakable presence. She cherished traveling and adventures with her family, especially her weekly dinner dates with her grandson Evan and his son. While she enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and trips to the casino, nothing meant more to her than time spent with her family, who were always at the center of her world.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2026 from 9:00-11:00 am with her funeral service at 11:00 am in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be private.
