Marilyn R. Shapiro

Marilyn R. (Berg) Shapiro, age 82, of Providence, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital, with her beloved husband and daughter by her side. She was the loving wife of Allan Martin Shapiro, with whom she shared sixty years of marriage.

Born in Jackson Heights, New York, she was the daughter of the late Harris and Gladys (Aschner) Berg and the sister of the late Bianca Weber.

Marilyn earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Maryland and made her home in Providence for many years. She found joy in helping others and generously gave her time through volunteering.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Marcie Ingber of Providence; her two sons, Joel Shapiro and his wife, Elizabeth, of Idaho, and Daniel Shapiro and his wife, Jennifer, of Maryland; six grandchildren and one sister Sarah of Israel.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 11:00 am in Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
