Mary E. Connelly

Providence Mary Esther Connelly, age 97, of Wyndham Avenue, died Friday evening, July 14, 2017 in her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Thomas Hurley Connelly. Born in West Warwick, she was the daughter of the late William W. and Mary C. (McHugh) O'Donnell. Esther devoted her life to raising her ten children who cared for her until her passing. She loved jazz, blue hydrangeas, the beach, all things Irish and her family. She was a graduate of Saint Xavier Academy and a faithful communicant of Saint Pius V Church. She leaves ten children: Susan M. Fitzgerald, Thomas H. Connelly, Jr., Richard J. Connelly, Jane M. Peltier, Mary C. Benway, Linda A. Rihani, Elizabeth E. Rosati, Paul A. Connelly, Ann F. Dean, and Kathleen T. Connelly; ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late William O'Donnell, Edward O'Donnell, John O'Donnell, and Rev. Robert A. O'Donnell, CSP. Visiting hours, Thursday 4:00 - 7:00 pm; Funeral service, Friday 8:45 am at the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Saint Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown.
