

Mary Pyne McGarry, 89, formerly of Cranston, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Brentwood Nursing Home, in Warwick. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. McGarry. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James and Teresa (Mohan) Pyne. She was a resident of Providence before moving to Cranston in 1958. Mary was a executive secretary in the production and operations department of the Providence Journal for 38 years, before retiring in 1990. After retirement she worked at the Irish Cottage in Garden City, Cranston. Mary was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy, Class of 1942, and co-chaired their class reunions for many years. She was a member of the Board of the Saint Xavier Alumnae Association. Mrs. McGarry was a charter member of the Immaculate Conception Church, in Cranston. She was a member of the Rosary and Altar Sodality, and served on various committees of the parish. Mary also served as a Eucharistic Minister at Rhode Island Hospital for many years. She is survived by three nieces, four nephews, several cousins, and six godchildren of whom she was very fond. Mary's funeral will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 8:30 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt. 117) Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Immaculate Conception Church, Garden Hills Drive, Cranston. Burial in will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting Hours will be on Friday, September 5, 2014 from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Bishop Russell J.
