

ProvidenceMary F. "Mollie" (Dolan) McKenna, 82, of Bolton Avenue, died Wednesday morning at the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late James J. McKenna. Born in Ballinamore, County Leitrim, Ireland, a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Prior) Dolan, she settled in the Fox Point section of Providence, before moving to the Mount Pleasant area fifty years ago. Mrs. McKenna was a graduate of the Cleary School, Saint Xavier Academy, and the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse at Rhode Island Hospital for several years. Mrs. McKenna was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, a member of the Saint Xavier Alumnae Association and the Rhone Island Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association. Mary leaves her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Kelly, and her husband Thomas, of Cranston; two sons, Kevin J. McKenna, and his wife Colleen, of Narragansett, and Special Assistant Attorney General Robert P. McKenna (Ret.P.P.D.) also of Narragansett; and five grandchildren, Bridget and Kevin McKenna, Thomas, Patrick and James Kelly. She also leaves her sisters-in-law, Anne Dolan and Mary Whalen, and her brothers-in-law, Walter Carty and William Kane. She was the mother of the late Stephen A. McKenna and sister of the late Thomas and Patrick Dolan, Anna Kane and Marguerite Carty. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 9:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 179 Academy Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Friday, 4 - 8 pm.
