Mary Dorothy McKenna

Warwick Mary Dorothy McKenna, 97, formerly of Ticonderoga Drive, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, May 15, 2013, at Sunny View Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter J. McKenna. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Maurice S. and Mary (Kenney) King. Mary was a graduate of Saint Xavier Academy, and was a communicant of Saint Kevin Church, Warwick, for many years. She enjoyed life, and one of her greatest joys was being able to share time with her children and grandchildren. The McKenna family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Sunny View Nursing Home for taking such wonderful care of Dot for the past nine years. She truly considered them her "second" family. Mary leaves a son, James W. McKenna and his wife Rita; a daughter, Sharon A. Lenox and her husband William; four loving grandchildren, William Lenox, Jr., Lauren Maguire, Lisa McKenna and Julie McKenna; nieces Barbara Witbeck and Mary Jane Sornberger and a nephew, George Quinn. She was a sister of the late James King, John King and Irene King and cousin of the late J. Kenneth Quirk. The funeral will be held Monday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Sunday, 3 - 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sunny View Nursing Home, Activities Fund, 83 Corona Street, Warwick, RI 02886 in her memory will be appreciated.
