Mary Elizabeth (O'Neil) McNamara

NORTH PROVIDENCE - McNAMARA, Mary E., died Saturday at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. She was the wife of the late Daniel J. McNamara, Sr. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John F. and Margaret M. (Murray) O'Neil, Sr., she had lived in North Providence for many years. Mrs. McNamara had been the secretary for the Director of the IRS in Rhode Island for 20 years before she retired in 1971. She was a communicant of St. Augustine, and a member and a past president of the Rosary & Altar Society. She was a member of the National Association of IRS Employees.She was an alumna and past president of St. Teresa School, and an alumna of both St. Mary Academy of the Visitation and the former Bryant & Stratton College. She is survived by her beloved children, John F. McNamara of North Providence, and Mary E. DeFlorian of Narragansett; her daughter-in-law Karen McNamara; her sister Kathleen A. Goodwin of Warwick, and six grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Daniel J. McNamara, Jr. and sister of the late Rev. John F. O'Neil, Hubert J. O'Neil, Jr., and Margaret C. Stamps, R.N. Her funeral will be Wednesday at 8:45am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday morning 8:00-9:30am. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Augustine Church, 20 Old Rd., Providence, RI 02908.
