Mary M. (Leeder) Smith, 85, passed away November 3, 2013. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Frederick C. and Elizabeth (Riley) Leeder. She was the wife of the late Frederick T. Smith. She is survived by her three sons, David P. his wife Pat, Frederick J. his wife Beth, Joseph M. his wife Melinda; two daughters, Kathleen M. and Mary Ann; sister of Elizabeth, Ruth and Frederick; and eleven grandchildren.
Mary was a 1945 graduate of St. Xavier’s Academy, she worked at Fatima Hospital as an administrative secretary in finance before retiring in 1993. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Edward’s Church and served as a CCD instructor and a lecture. Mary was an oblate at St. Benedicts at the Abbey for 35 years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Edward Church Food & Wellness Center, 997 Branch Ave., Providence, RI 02904.
