Born in Providence, she was the cherished daughter of the late James and Sophie (Pyrek) Law, and the beloved wife of 61 years to her devoted husband, Michael C. Wright. Mary will be remembered as an exceptionally beautiful woman, both inside and out.
Mary dedicated her life to caring for others across the state of Rhode Island. Over the years, she held many meaningful roles, including positions at the Rhode Island Veterans Home and Rhode Island College. She spent more than two decades as an LPN before returning to school to earn her RN degree from Rhode Island College in 2000. A brilliant and compassionate nurse, Mary graduated with honors and was known for helping her classmates succeed alongside her. Her commitment to service was matched only by her kindness.
Full of energy and warmth, Mary had a gift for making people feel seen, welcomed, and uplifted. She could talk to anyone, and her presence made every room brighter. She loved knitting, long walks, and a good cup of coffee. A passionate mahjong player, she competed in tournaments throughout the state. Dogs held a special place in her heart, especially her treasured Buddy.
Mary is survived by her devoted daughter, Nancy Wright, and her partner, Steve Adams; and her beloved granddaughter, Akira Adams. True to her humble and gentle nature, she also leaves behind many cherished friends who felt like family.
Mary’s legacy is one of kindness, dedication, hard work, and genuine goodness. She was a rare and special soul whose memory will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, September 15, from 12:00–3:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 3:00 PM at the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, RI 02908. Burial will be private.
