

Masako "Rose" McDonough (Tanaka), age 87, of North Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, September 20, 2014 with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late George R. McDonough for over 51 years. He was stationed in Japan where they met and married.Mrs. McDonough was born in Kyushu, Japan a daughter of the late Kesataro and Sue (Tsukamoto) Tanaka.Before retirement, Masako was employed with General Electric Co., in Providence for several years. Both she and her late husband loved to travel with their children. She was a loving and caring person who was devoted to her family. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren.She was the loving mother of James R. McDonough, Charlotte A. Rekrut, Donna J. McDonough and Susan G. Baribault, and her husband, Gregory. Sister of Yoshiteru Tanaka, Toshiko Tanaka, and Tamayo Tanaka, grandmother of James P. Rekrut and wife Angela, Jennifer L. Girasole and husband Dr. Christopher Grasole, Jaclyn and Nicole Baribault, great-grandmother of Avery, Violet, Aubrey, Charlotte and Layla.Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 8:45am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home 331 Smith St, Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Ave, Providence. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 to 7pm.
