

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Mel was the beloved son of Mrs. Shiwanna (Miller) Ross and Mr. Nell Jean-Jacques.
A dedicated student with a passion for helping others, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Rhode Island College, Class of 2025, and was proudly continuing his education while working toward his Master's degree. His dedication to his education, his dreams, his love for his family and others he loved reflected the strength of his character and the promise of a bright future. He was also a Behavioral and Academic Support Aide and basketball coach at Blackstone Valley Prep.
Mel had a deep love for basketball and played on countless teams and leagues. He dreamed of becoming a world-renowned player.
As an usher at Living Hope International Assemblies of God, he dedicated himself to serving others and sharing his faith. His kindness, wisdom, and unwavering devotion left a lasting impact on countless individuals and helped strengthen their faith.
He continually used his experiences and talents to inspire young people and encourage them to reach their fullest potential. A devoted family man, he treasured the time he spent with his loved ones and took great pride in supporting, guiding, and caring for them. He believed in the power of perseverance, self-improvement, and giving back to others, and he carried those values with him throughout his life, serving as a positive example both within his family and throughout his community.
Known for his determination, ambition, and caring spirit, Mel had a way of making everyone he met feel seen, valued, and inspired.
In addition to his parents, Mel is survived by his cherished grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Denis Jean-Jacques and Mrs. Theresa Nelson; his beloved sisters, LaDiva Ross and Nora Jean-Jacques; his aunts, Anny (Jean-Jacques) Domercant, Tania Miller, Tanessa Miller, and Debbie Jean-Jacques; his uncles, J. Dennis Jean-Jacques and Terrance Miller; his cousins, Taylor Jean-Jacques, Chandler Jean-Jacques, JD Jean-Jacques, Keenon Miller, Preston Domercant, and Cameron Domercant; his fiancée Marta Burgos and her daughter Juliana. There are also many other loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Though his time on earth was far too brief, Mel's aspirations, kindness, and desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Eternally.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the Living Hope International Assemblies of God Church, 100 Broadway, Pawtucket followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Providence.
