We are saddened to hear of the loss of Merna Green, who was our neighbor in Cranston for 7 years. We came to know her as not only a neighbor but as a lively, engaged, woman with many interests, a gentle sense of humor, a generous heart, and a ready compassion for others...  humans and animals. When our church worked with others to establish an interfaith food cupboard for the needy, Merna became a regular and reliable volunteer... lcontinuing long after we moved away. During the past 2 decades, we could rely on Merna to greet us whenever we might come back to Cranston on a visit. She would catch us up on all the local news, and tell us about her kids. When she learned of our son's illness, she let Robert know; his phone call cheered and encouraged Mike so much. Dawn and Robert, you were the ones we knew: She talked about you, as mothers do with other mothers-- sometimes with worry, sometimes with frustration, but always, always, with deep and abiding love and pride.   We will miss her, and we thank God for having known her.

Remembering our days at Chester Barrows, I fondly recall my mother's weekly visits to your house to see your mom and have her hair done. My mother always praised your mother as being such a loving and giving individual. Please accept our deepest sympathies on her passing. She inspired me every visit I had with her,, and she always shared with me her wisdom, love and compassion for others, mostly her family, friends and neighbors. She loved animals, nature and everything human. I confided in her many times and trusted her advice. I will always remember her sharp wit, sense of humor, sparkling eyes and constant smile. My deepest sympathy to Merna's extended family and to Seena on Merna's passing.  I knew Merna when I was a little girl - she used to cut my hair.  Merna was a good friend of my cousin Chick (Hanley) Lanni-Froempter.  Chick always talked about Merna and kept us updated on Merna and her family.  I haven't seen Merna in about 14 years, but I will never forget her.

Her love lives on in the lives she touched with her gentle, caring way.  In the words she spoke, in the hearts she warmed, in the joy she brought each day.

So sorry to hear about the passing of Merna I enjoyed working with her she really was a joy she was very (as she would say) strong in her ways . She did talk often about her family and how she was proud of them. I will surly miss her I came to enjoy spending time with her she always treated me with respect. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Dawn and Bobbie as I remember, I am Lola Dunbar's daughter, your Mom was a hairdresser at my Mother's Beauty Salon for many years. Your Mom And Dad had brought you both here at our house in Narragansett when you were small. I want to express my sympathies to you both, she was a good person did many things for others during her lifetime. I used to enjoy her visits.
