Michael J. Davis

Born in Providence, Michael was the cherished son of the late Thomas M. Davis, Sr. and Audrey M. (Bedrosian) Davis. After graduating from high school, he began what would become a dedicated over 30-year career at Rhode Island College, working in the maintenance department. Known for his cheerful spirit and strong work ethic, Michael was a familiar and friendly presence across campus. Following his well-earned early retirement, he enjoyed exploring new roles; first as an airport shuttle driver for a local inn, and later as a starter for the trotters at Plainridge Park Casino.

The racetrack was one of Michael’s greatest joys. A lifelong enthusiast of both horses and greyhounds, he was a beloved fixture at the track, sharing the passion with his father and brother. Many of the family’s fondest memories were made there, from childhood visits to his final years.

Michael also had a remarkable singing voice. Affectionately known as the “Elvis of Patrick’s Pub,” he loved performing for the crowd and brought joy to anyone lucky enough to hear him sing.

A man of style, Michael inherited his mother’s love of fashion. At one point, he owned more than 200 shirts, each with perfectly matched sneakers. He never left the house without looking like a million bucks; compliments followed him everywhere. He also delighted in dining out, famously avoiding the kitchen whenever possible.

Michael had a special bond with animals, and they adored him in return. He shared close relationships with dogs Lexi, Misha, Luna, and Charlie, and with cats Nala, Baby Kitty, and Minnie.

Though he had no children of his own, Michael was deeply devoted to his family. He never missed a holiday or important gathering, and he stepped wholeheartedly into the role of father figure for his niece and nephew. He was a steady, positive presence in the lives of his great-nephews, who looked up to him with love and admiration.

Michael is survived by his devoted sister, Patricia Lupo; his nephew Albert “Al” Costa, Jr.; his niece Audra M. Costa; and his great-nephews Derek Costa and David Costa. He also leaves behind many cherished extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas M. Davis, Jr.

Per the family’s wishes, all services and burial will be private.
