

Milton F. Wolferseder, 94 of Providence and Narragansett passed away peacefully on March 6, 2015. He was the son of the late Francis X. Wolferseder and Carrie (Scheuren). His father immigrated to the United States from Austria and established the family business in 1913. Milton was born in 1920 and graduated from Lasalle Academy in 1939 and LaSalle Military Academy in 1940. He then went onto Providence College and graduated with a degree in business in 1944. It was at that time that he joined his father in the family business. American Safe & Lock was a mainstay on North Main Street for over 100 years and provided for 3 generations of which Milton was extremely proud. His career was decorated with distinguished awards and accomplishments. He was a published author and was a master of safe and vault technology. He was inducted into the Locksmith National Honor Society and the Locksmith Hall of Fame. He was a legend with his American contemporaries and was also recognized by the British Monarchy. While his work ethic was unsurpassed, at the center of his life was his unwavering love for his family. He was a devoted catholic, father, and husband to Gertrude (Cahir) Wolferseder for over 70 years. Besides his wife, he leaves 5 children and their spouses, John Wolferseder (Linda Murray), Robert Wolferseder (Justine Banik), Frank Wolferseder (Penny Thompson), Joan and Ted Beisel , Jane and Mitchell Duran. He leaves 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He also leaves his brother Joseph Wolferseder (Ellen Morganthall) of Warwick and is predeceased by siblings Hazel Gibson, Dorothy Christiansen and Mary (O’Connell) Hughes. Milton's funeral will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in the Chapel of Our Lady of the Rosary in the St. Thomas Aquinas Priory, on the campus of Providence College ( Entrance gate is on the corner of Eaton Street and River Avenue, Priory is on the left as you enter) Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 from 3:30 to 6:30 pm.
