

Born on January 7, 2012 in Providence, Rhode Island, Oscar was a beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. He was known for his intelligence, strong work ethic, and exceptional character. Though young in age, Oscar often displayed a maturity beyond his years, often putting the thoughts of others before him, and earning the admiration and respect of those who knew him.
Oscar’s life was filled with timeless memories of Pokemon, Anime, Minecraft, chess, tennis, and exploring the world through food. He possessed a restless scientific mind and a love of discovery that made every new experience an adventure. Whether he was building a robot, reading a new manga, exploring a new world in Minecraft, or sharing his enthusiasm for his favorite hobbies, Oscar approached life with excitement and determination.
Family and friends were at the center of Oscar’s life. He was a devoted and caring older brother who looked after his younger sister with love and protection. He also enjoyed helping his father with building projects and took pride in working alongside him. Oscar’s willingness to help others, his sense of responsibility, and his dedication to doing things well reflected the values he carried throughout his life.
Those who knew Oscar will remember his kindness, integrity, and gentle spirit. He treated others with respect, demonstrated compassion beyond his years, and consistently sought to do what was right. His character, intelligence, and work ethic left no doubt that he would have grown to be an exceptional man.
Oscar is survived by his loving parents, Yao Chen and Zhiwen Lin; his sister, Lisa Chen; his paternal grandparents, Chunzhuo Chen and Ying Chen; his maternal grandparents, Songqi Li and Qichang Lin; his uncles, Hao Chen and David Chen; and his aunt Zhimin Lin.
Though his time on earth was far too short, Oscar’s life was filled with love, purpose, and meaning. His memory will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
May he rest upon the stars as the brightest flare.
Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Hope and Memory Chapel in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence.
