

Patricia Ann Ciolfi (Ethier), 86, of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully surrounded by love. Born on May 20, 1939, in Providence to the late Earl V. Ethier and Esther Ethier (DeSimone), Patricia lived a life full of compassion, strength, and devotion to family.
She was the beloved wife of the late John Joseph Ciolfi of Warwick, RI, and Ammissville, VA, and sister of the late Beverly Acker of California. Patricia leaves behind her cherished daughter, Ann Marie Ciolfi Martins, and son-in-law, Paul Martins of Acushnet, MA, as well as her adored granddaughter, Alivia Grace Martins, who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her loving brother, Donald E. Ethier, and his wife Donna of Providence, RI, along with nieces Brooke Dahlstrom and her son Devin of California, and Holly Smyth and her husband Syd of Tennessee, and their daughter Ashley and family.
Patricia’s life journey took her from Providence to Japan and Taiwan before returning home to Rhode Island, where she lived in Cranston and later Providence. She dedicated 42 years of service to Rhode Island Hospital, retiring in 2011. Known for her kindness and gentle heart, Patricia was an avid animal lover and a passionate advocate for feral cats, caring for countless strays and finding them loving homes.
She found joy in cooking, gardening, and her favorite soap operas, but nothing compared to the time spent with her granddaughter, Alivia. Their shopping trips, lunches at Chelo’s, and heartfelt conversations over mac and cheese were the highlights of her life moments filled with laughter, love, and magic.
Patricia will be remembered for her unwavering love for family, her generosity, and her warm spirit that touched everyone she met.
Her Visitation will be held on Thursday January 8, 2026, from 4:00-5:30 PM in the Romano Funeral Home, 627 Union Avenue Providence RI, 02909. Burial will be private
