Paul J. Travis "Spike" (June 5, 1927 - June 15, 2008) Sign Guest Book Travis, Paul J. Known to his friends as "Spike", age 81 of Providence, passed away on June 15th. He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Tubman) Travis. Born in Providence, the son of the late Macon and Elizabeth (Gray) Travis. Mr. Travis was a US Army Veteran. Before retirement, Paul was a Fire Fighter for over 33 years with the Providence Fire Dept ladder 4. Paul was also employed as a deputy state Fire Marshall with the State of RI for 10 years. He graduated from Bryant College and Providence College. Besides his wife of over 58 years, he is survived by his son Jim Travis of North Providence, a daughter Paula Gadouas of Manchester, NH, a brother James E. Travis of No. Providence and a sister Harriet Smith of Fresno, CA. Paul was a loving and caring man who cherished his family especially his beloved wife Joyce and his grandchildren, Melissa, Danielle and Allie. His funeral will be held on SATURDAY at 8:45am from The RUSSELL J. BOYLE & SON Funeral Home 331 Smith St., PROVIDENCE, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 179 Academy Ave, Providence at 10am, a graveside interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
