Ralph Nonnenmacher, 85, passed away February 25, 2015 in Port Richey, Fl. He was the beloved husband of the late Eleanor (Ricci) Nonnenmacher for 63 years; son of the late Gottlieb and Gertrude (Erhard) Nonnenmacher; father of Ralph S. and his wife Ann, Paul M. and his wife Constance, and Donna L. Nonnenmacher; grandfather of Jessica, Robert, Alissa and Michael; great-grandfather of Clayton and Coltan; and brother of Frederick and Paul Nonnenmacher and the late Clifford and Harold Nonnenmacher, Elsie Anderton and Barbara Giacchieri.
Ralph was a forty year member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 17. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1950-1952 and was a two time Purple Heart recipient. He was a member of the West Bay Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 2, DAV Folcarelli Chapter 1, Military Order of the Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge Assoc., American Legion and the VFW. He was also a volunteer driver for the Veterans’ Hospital.
Ralph enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards, watching the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and spending time with his family and friends. He was a very happy man and was always seen singing, laughing and whistling. He will be greatly missed.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Thursday, 9-10:30 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
