We are sad to announce the passing of Raymond R. Conley, who at age 90, passed away on November 2, 2023. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sadie (Costello) Conley, brother to the late Joseph “Bud” Conley, and survived by his sister Eleanor (Conley) Perdue. He was the loving uncle of seven nieces and nephews and eight grand nieces and nephews.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War, was a dedicated supporter of Veterans, and a member of the Providence Chapter of the VFW. Ray had a very strong work ethic. He worked at John W. Kennedy Company in East Providence for the last 53 years, working right up until the day before he passed.
Ray was very proud of his Irish heritage and was a faithful parishioner of St. Augustine’s Church in Providence. He was an athlete who played hockey for the Providence Reds, as well as baseball for the US Army. Ray was an avid golfer who loved watching sports and discussing the local teams.
His visitation will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023, from 8:30-9:30 AM in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow at the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, RI. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Operation Stand Down in Johnston, RI www.osdri.org
