Rebecca K. Stone

STONE, REBECCA (KOPELMAN), 96, passed away Monday September 4, 2017. She was the wife of the late Dr. Sidney H. Stone. Born in Hartford, CT, she was a daughter of the late Joseph, esq. and Ethel (Calecheman) Kopelman. She was a former resident of Larchmont, NY for 44 years and a resident of Providence until 2012. Rebecca graduated from Mt. Holyoke College with honors and had a Graduate Degree in English Literature from Sarah Lawrence. She was an English professor for 25 years at Westchester Community College. She was an enthusiastic poetry teacher at Laurelmead University. She was a former member of Temple Beth-El in Providence, RI and Larchmont Temple in Larchmont, NY. She is survived by her children Roberta Jane Stone, Dr. William Stone and his wife Jeane, and Julie Dee Stene-Weinreb and her husband Dr. Wayne; grandchildren David, Jonathan Stone and his wife Kathleen, Dr. Elena Brown and her husband Lucas, Anne Stone and her husband Silas Mackey, Jacob Weinreb and his wife Megan, Michael Stone and his wife Elizabeth, Hannah Coppola and her husband Kyle, Samuel, and Ben; and great grandchildren Owen, Pepper, Micah, and Henry. She was the sister of the late Robert and Charles Kopelman. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 6th at 10AM in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her memory to the Parkinson's Foundation. Shiva will be held at the home of Dr. William Stone, Wednesday 7-9PM and Thursday 7-9PM.
