Richard M. Coen, Sr

North Providence- Richard M. Coen, Sr., 82, of Sunset Ave, passed away Tuesday at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Geraldine E. (McGrath) Coen.Born in Providence, he was the son of Joseph H. and Ann (Chaffee) Coen.Richard attended Providence College and later became a chef at the College for many years. He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran.He was a member of the Federal Hill Council, Knights of Columbus in Providence.He was a devoted communicant and volunteer of St. Augustine Church, Providence. He loved all animals, was a voracious reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles.Beside his wife he leaves a son, Richard M. Coen, Jr. of Cumberland, three daughters, Meredith A. Santangelo of Cumberland, Elizabeth M. Coen of Mansfield, TX and Annemarie Feldman of Morristown, NJ, a sister, Anne C. Murphy of Providence and a brother, Joseph J. Coen of Richmond, VA and six grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Robert Coen, Mary Kelaghan and Jane Woodall.His funeral will be on Saturday at 8:30 am from the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., Providence. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence. Burial will be private. Visiting hours, Friday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Augustine Church, 20 Old Road, Providence, RI02908 in his memory would be appreciated.
