When I think of Rickey, I think of a young man who was the best swimmer on the team at the Seekonk Swimming club. He was long and lean, and when he jumped into the pool his arms seemed to go on forever. He always came in first and was the hero of Woodbine Street. I remember his mother, Sylvia, cheering him on. She was always so proud when he won, and never took it for granted that he would bring home the gold, again and again. We all wanted to be champions, like Rickey.

When I saw today's notice, it was hard to believe. Rickey will always be young and vibrant in my mind and in my heart. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time of tremendous sorrow.
