Born in West Warwick, RI she was a daughter of the late John J. and Anna (Winward) Murphy.
Rita worked as a Medical Transcript Secretary for many years before her retirement. She lived in Providence before marrying her husband, Rene. Rita then moved to Warwick where she raise her family.
After her retirement, Rita moved to Port Saint Lucie Florida until her husband's passing. She then returned back to Rhode Island to be with her family.
Rita was involved in the ladies auxiliary group at her church, and had a true passion for prayer. A true lady, she always dressed nice and made a point to look her best.
She leaves two daughters, Kathleen A. Marcantonio and her husband Albert, Maureen J.Davide and her husband Raymond, and her four grandchildren, Deborah , Kimberly, Meggan, and Jeffery, and five great grandchildren.
At the families request interment will be private .A Mass will be celebrated at Saint Barnabas Church, 1697 E Main Rd, Portsmouth in June
