Robert Spencer Deming Sr.

He was the husband to the late Maureen A (Hall) Deming. Born in Providence, RI, a son to the late Elizabeth (Hamer) and Frederick Deming.

Robert lived in Smithfield, RI for 30 years and 19 years in North Smithfield where he raised his family and watched his grandchildren grow.

He was a coach in Smithfield Boys Basketball, Little League Baseball, and Girls Softball.

He loved to play with his dogs, fish, draw, paint, plant flowers, tell stories, make his own cards, sing and play guitar.

Robert leaves his daughter, Robin L. Simoes (John) of Port Saint Lucie, FL and his son Robert S. Deming, Jr of Smithfield, RI.

He was the grandfather of Alyssa Jalette (Drew), Amanda Simoes, Tyler Deming, Taylor Deming, and Tara Deming; the great-grandfather of Ethan Jalette; the brother of John Deming, Elizabeth Carney, the late Walter Deming, the late Fred Deming; and the half-brother of the late Mary Lang and the late Florence Sargent. He will also be missed by his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 9:30am-10:30am at Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home, 971 Branch Ave. Providence, RI, and will be followed by a celebration of life at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Johnston, RI.
