

Robert A. Dillon Sr., age 82, of Providence, passed away Sunday, December 15th 2013 at the Village at Waterman Lake. He was the loving husband of Mary T. (Twohig) Dillon, for 58 years.Born in Cranston in 1931, he was the son of the late John "Jack" Dillon and Catherine Bishop Dillon.Robert was employed as a Procurement Manager at the First National Stores, Friendlys, and BJ Stores for many years until his retirement in 1996. He was a U.S. Navy war veteran during the Korean Conflict.Robert was a member of the Sons of Irish Kings, Club Dominicana of Saint Pius V Church, and the PAC Club.Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert A. Dillon Jr., and his wife Dawn of Barrington, William P. Dillon, and his wife Adria of Holmdel, NJ., two daughters, Anne F. Dillon, and her husband John P. Carey of Medfield, MA., and Maureen Dillon Sleight and her husband Raymond of Westwood, MA. He was the sixth of 11 children and is survived by two sisters, Catherine "Kay" Johnston of Warwick, and Carol Francisca and her husband Lidio of Cumberland, and ten grandchildren. He was the brother of the late John "Bud" Dillon, Raymond Dillon, Alan Dillon, Virginia McMahon, Mary "May" Dunne, Claire Smith, Patricia Dillon, and Lorraine R. Lonardo.His funeral will held Friday, December 20th, 2013 at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Saint Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial with military honors in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
