Roberta “Ro” Inez (BUCHANAN) SHURGOT, 65, passed away on June 22, 2018. Born in Johnson City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Rose (Cvoliga) Buchanan; wife and companion of Ralph DeMarco Jr. She leaves many dear and close friends and family.
For anyone who knew Ro, they would know that a good day was one with sunshine, Budweiser, and flip flops. On a freezing winter’s day with eight inches of snow on the ground here she would come in her little flip flops. And those little flip flops carried her to many places, both fun and work. Many may remember her as the party manager at Ralph’s Bull & Claw Tavern or at her job at the Heartly Travel Agency. Her favorite vacation was one in Aruba. She taught Ralph, not only how to vacation but how to vacation in Aruba. A past time there would include horse racing, always betting on the number four or a gray. And a number four that was also a gray was a sure bet. Someone once called her a little “firecracker’, but for those of us who knew her she was more like frail dynamite. Roberta will be missed by many beloved family members and friends. She will be sorely missed by her partner of 28 years, Ralph DeMarco Jr.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 9-10:30 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Edward Food and Wellness Center, 1001 Branch Ave, Providence, RI 02904.
