

Rocco M. Marcaccio, 102, of Providence, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2024, with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Alma (Spinelli) Marcaccio for 67 years. Born to the late Vito and Margaret (Famiglietti) Marcaccio, Rocco lived in the North End of Providence for over a century.
A proud member of the "Greatest Generation," Rocco served his country with distinction in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was part of the D-Day invasion at Utah Beach with the Third Army, following General Patton and participating in the Battle of the Bulge.
Rocco dedicated 35 years of his professional life as the Building Superintendent for Old Stone Bank and was a licensed electrician. In 2022, he participated in the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., where he had the honor of placing a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery.
A committed community member, Rocco was an active member and past officer of DAV Chapter 21 and for over 20 years, volunteered at the VA Hospital.
He cherished his family and was a true family man, passing on his love for his country to his grandchildren, teaching them how to properly fold the American flag.
Rocco is survived by his four loving children: Ronald (Suzanne), Linda Zagarella (Bill Kelley), Paul (Dawn), and Raymond (Abigail). He was the proud grandfather of Lisa, Renee, Adam, Trisha, Kenneth, Michael, Matthew, James, and Christopher, and the great-grandfather of Drew, Bruce, Ryker, and Amelia.
He was predeceased by his siblings: Vincent, Bernard, Mario, Vito, and Arthur Marcaccio, Sue Cimini, Margaret Radloff, Anna DiCecco, and Clara Marianetti.
Rocco's legacy of dedication to family, community, and country will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Out of respect of the deceased, funeral services will be private.
