Warwick: Kart, Ronald L., 67, of Rhode Island Avenue, and Hobe Sound, FL, was the beloved husband of Stephanie "Stevie" (Wojcik) Kart. Son of the late Samuel and Louise (McMann) Kart brother of Judith K. Good of Lake Placid, NY, uncle of Jeffrey Good, Kristin LeRoy, Meghan and Derek Gustafson, Adam Paul, Sally Timmons, Melissa, Jessica and Levi Burdon. Ron, the Redhead, Kart as he was known to his legion of relatives and friends, left us on the eighteenth green to play the heavenly back nine. Ron was a loving husband, brother, uncle and Godfather to his family and an affable, loyal, reliable friend to all he knew. An accomplished baseball and basketball player in his own right, Ron became an accomplished golfer and excelled in the sport competing in individual and team events throughout New England and Florida. A graduate of LaSalle Academy and the University of Rhode Island, Ron often told of just how he honed his formidable golf skills in Panama while on active duty serving his country in the United States Army. Ron and his wife, Stephanie, known as Stevie, recently celebrated their forty-third wedding anniversary and lived the true golf lifestyle. Their beautiful home on the fifteenth tee at Warwick, RI Country Club was Ron's perch from which he could critique other members' play or simply enjoy the view. Ron and Stevie spent the winter season on the eleventh tee box at Lost Lake Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida surrounded by wonderful friends. Further cementing his golf legacy, Ron scored not one, but two holes-in-one, on the same hole with the same club, this summer at Warwick Country Club. Whether up north or down south, Ron was admired as much for his golfing ability as he was for his keen sense of humor and warm friendship. An instinctive and natural teacher, Ron had an uncanny knack of spotting the most minute areas in need of golf improvement. His fee structure, no charge, belied the quality of his almost always spot-on observations. His comments were universally well received not only because they resulted in improved play but because they came from the heart. Ron and Stevie lived in Rhode Island for most of their lives, but spent nearly twenty years in Gaithersburg, Maryland where Ron was President of International Risk Insurance Company. All who had the pleasure of meeting Ron were immediately welcomed into his inner circle. He enjoyed the comraderie and mental gymnastics of a good bridge game, but his sporting passion, besides golf, was a life long love of the Boston Red Sox. It didn't matter if he was in Rhode Island or Florida, Ron rarely missed a pitch of any Sox game be it on radio or television. Naturally, as an inveterate Sox fan, Ron said that he only hoped to live long enough to see the Sox win a World Series; and he was fortunate to witness it twice! Ron Kart was an original, one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Ron would always remind us all "to play the extra nine". A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 am in St. Gregory the Great Church, Cowesett Rd, Warwick, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully ommitted. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142, in his memory would be appreciated. Boyleandsonfuneralhome.com
