Ronald F. Lewis

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Britko) Lewis.

Ron proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a long and distinguished career with the Providence Police Department. He went on to become a Detective Sergeant, serving the city for 20 plus years before his retirement. Following his career with the Providence Police, Ron continued doing the work he knew so well, establishing his own private investigation business, R.F. Lewis Private Investigation.

While Ron took great pride in his career and service, nothing meant more to him than his family. He was the kind of father his daughters could always count on, no matter what, and he was incredibly proud of each of them. His grandchildren always had a way of making him smile, and that smile grew even bigger with his great-grandchildren. Though Ron was never particularly fond of having his picture taken, when his great-grandchildren were around, his daughters could usually convince him to make an exception.

Ron spent 30 wonderful years at his home on the water in Jamestown, a place that brought him great happiness. He loved being out on his boat, fishing, and simply enjoying life by the water. He was also an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

He was the beloved father of Marcia Leonardo and her husband Stephen, Cynthia Rozzo and her husband Saverio, Theresa Wrage and her husband William and the late Deborah A. DiNitto. He was also the cherished grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of six. He was the brother of Kathleen Caron and Gary Lewis, and the late Helene Stanley, Jean Tanzi, and Glenda MacDonald.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 8:15 AM to 9:30 AM in the PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.
