

Rosamond “Roz” Lilyan (Wyzansky) Helfand, age 99, of Taunton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of Israel Helfand, with whom she shared 74 years of marriage.
Born in Taunton, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Anne (Bernstein) Wyzansky, she spent her youth in Providence, Rhode Island before moving back to Massachusetts living in Taunton for the past 70 years. A graduate of Hope high school class of 1944, Roz went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island and worked as a social worker for many years.
A longtime member of Congregation Agudas Achim in Taunton, she was an active member of the sisterhood of Hadassah league of women’s voters and was always volunteering wherever she could. She enjoyed a good game of bridge doing needle point and was talented at making ceramics.
In addition to her husband, she has survived by three children, William Helfand and his wife Harriet of Towson, Maryland, Lisa Beth Helfand-Brown of Taunton and Mathew A. Helfand of Cranston; five grandchildren, Alexander, Olivia, Caroline, Andrew, and Sam; eight great grandchildren, Tia, Nitzan, Meital, Lake, Eliana, Reed, Elijah and Aaron and several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Miranda Brown and sister of the late Miriam Laudon, Barbara Suess and David Wyzansky.
The funeral will be held Sunday, April 19, 2026 at 1:00 pm in Congregation Agudath Achim, 36 Winthrop St., Taunton. Burial will follow in Mount Nebo Cemetery, Taunton.
Shiva will be observed Sunday 4/19, Monday 4/20 and Tuesday 4/21 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at 61 Davenport Terrace in Taunton.
