Salvatore Giacobbi, age 91, passed away January 2, 2022, in Vero Beach, FL. Born in Providence, he was a longtime resident of the Wanskuck section of Providence. He was a son of the late Anthony Giacobbi and Mary (Cardullo) Dicenzo and in addition to his father was raised by his late stepmother Emily (Renzi) Giacobbi; husband of 32 years to the late Judith Rose (Mattiace) Giacobbi; father of Gerald Giacobbi and his wife Pamela, Dawn Giacobbi-Martin, and the late Anthony J. Giacobbi; brother of Shirley Arena and the late Loretta Maguire, the late Anthony M. Giacobbi, Joseph DiCenzo, and the late James DiCenzo; grandfather of 9; and great-grandfather of 8.
He served in the United States Marine Corps. during the Korean War. Retired from the Providence School Department in 1980. He was the founder of American Alarms.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 31st at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
