She is survived by her grandchildren Meaghan, Emily, Connor, Amanda, William, Elliot, Eamon, and Flynn Reddy, Jonathan and Brendan Wales, Matthew Poyton, Sarah LaMarche, Kara Meneses, Matthew Cranham; and ten great grandchildren. Sandra was the sister of the late Robert Bennett; she is survived by several cousins and her sister-in-law Ann Coccio. Sandra was recently predeceased by her cherished daughter in law Kathy Reddy and her lifelong best friend, Mary Segatore.
Sandra graduated from Rhode Island Junior College as a Registered Nurse and worked at various nursing homes and urgent cares. At the age of 66, she graduated from University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Sandra was active in the St. Paul’s School PTO and Girl Scouts. Sandra assisted her husband, Joseph Reddy, for 23 years with the Edgewood South Elmwood Little League clinic on Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. In later years, Sandra worked at the St. Francis Wellness Center, Poverello Center and sat on the Board of Directors for DeAngelis Manor.
Sandra kept the door to her home always open. She loved her nursing profession. With a kind heart, she was ever ready to help others and eagerly stepped in as a nurse whenever needed. Her passion for the sciences began in childhood. She loved bargain shopping and hunting for blue light specials along with her best friend Margie. Christmas morning at the Reddy’s was like Santa’s Toy Shop-filled with excitement, laughter, and gifts chosen with love for everyone they cherished. Summer memories at Middlebridge were her favorite: hosting friends and family, picnics at Pettaquamscutt Rock, watching us swim at Middlebridge for hours at a time, penny candy at Brown’s, and pie from Eddy’s Restaurant. Above all, she adored her role as Nana to her grandchildren and to the many other children whose lives she touched with love, patience and kindness.
Sandra valued the memories she made with her many friends in the neighborhood; friendships filled with laughter, fun, and lasting bonds that remained close to her heart throughout her life. She had a strong Catholic faith.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks for the care their mother received at Cherry Hill Manor, and also by her loving caregiver Mei Lin Jin.
