

Born on February 2, 1945, in the province of Lahanam an area of Songkhon District in Laos, she was second youngest of nine children to the late Sivixay Saycocie and Vone (Salgé) Saycocie.
On January 25, 1975, Saysomboun embarked a new chapter of her life, she married Khamsing Phivilay, and they had been married for forty-nine (49) years. Their paths crossed while working together in Vientiane, Laos in late 60s and from that moment on, they were inseparable. In 1980 the couple along with their eldest daughter resettled in Portsmouth, Rhode Island after being sponsored by the Stickney family, and then shortly thereafter moving to Newport, Rhode Island. In 1985, they bought their forever home in Smith Hill in Providence, where together, they raised their two beautiful daughters. She had lived in Providence for forty (40) years, until her passing.
Saysomboun is survived by her beloved husband, Khamsing Phivilay and their two daughters: Phanida Phivilay of Johnston & Cranston, and her husband Alan H. Rudolph, and their children Belinda Phivilay and Belinda's longtime partner Treina Santos, Brandon V. Phivilay, Olivia G. Bessette, David J. Rudolph, and Jonathan M. Rudolph; and Alina Phivilay of Westerly and her longtime significant other Frank C. DeCaro and their son Luca T. DeCaro.
Saysomboun's life was dedicated to her unwavering love for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them, creating lasting memories, cooking Laotian food, and laying down her roots and traditions that would endure through the generations. Known for her beautiful smile, gentile soul, her warmth, kindness, strength, and boundless love, brought light to the lives of everyone who knew and loved her. Her life was a reflection of grace, her Buddhist faith a beacon of hope, and her love a foundation for her family. Her loving nature was evident in the care she took of her family and the generosity she extended to her friends, family, and community. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her loved ones. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. As the sun sets on her journey here on earth, we take comfort in knowing that her light will forever shine brightly in the legacy she leaves behind.
Friends and family are invited to attend a traditional Buddhist funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 8:00 am in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Cremation Monday, January 13, 2025, to follow in Swan Point Crematory (Located within Swan Point Cemetery) 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence. Visiting hours will be Sunday, January 12, 2025, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02908.
