Sheila Ann Davis

Sheila A. Davis, 79, of Rumford, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015 at her home. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth A. (Foley) Davis. She attended St. Xavier Academy and was a graduate of Rhode Island College in 1957, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Sheila also attended the University of Rhode Island earning a certificate in Library Science. An avid painter, she enjoyed reading and loved books. She was the family historian and had an interest in Irish history. Miss Davis worked as a Librarian for the State of Rhode Island Library Services, prior to retirement. She was also a certified art teacher. Sheila was a professed secular order Franciscan of St. Clare of Assisi Fraternity. She leaves her brother, John F. Davis, and his wife, Jeanne, of Rumford; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Sheila was the sister of the late Peter J. Davis and the aunt of the late Peter J. Davis, Jr. Her funeral will be held on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Saint Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
