Simon Chapkounian Jr.

Simon Chapkounian Jr., 52, passed away unexpectedly January 29, 2015. He was the devoted and loving father of Simon J. and Rose E. Chapkounian; beloved son of Marion (Zarifian) Chapkounian and the late Simon Chapkounian Sr.; loving brother of Judy J. Ayers and her husband Anthony, Gary “Chap” Chapkounian, twin brother Jack Chapkounian and his wife Cheryl. He was also the uncle of one niece and one nephew.

Always a smile on his face, he loved his family and friends. He adored his children who said “he was the best dad around.” Simon enjoyed the outdoors and he had a passion for snowmobiling, especially in the remote areas of Maine. He worked for the Columbus Theater, Interstate Oil and he also snow plowed. He owned Chapco Sprinklers and referred to himself as “just a sprinkler guy”, but he was knowledgeable about so much more.

Visitation Tuesday 4-7 p.m. with a funeral on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a service at 9:30 a.m. in Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Church, 70 Jefferson Street, Providence. Burial will be in North Burial Ground, Providence.
