

Sr. Cecile Couture, Franciscan Missionary of Mary, of Queen of Peace Community, North Providence died August 22, 2009 in Our Lady of Fatima Hospital.She was born in Manchester, NH, the daughter of the late Donat and Rose Anna (Fortier) Couture. Sr. Cecile T. Couture, FMM, entered the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary September 12, 1939 in North Providence and made her final vows, March 19, 1946 in St. Clement's Eucharistic Shrine, Boston. Her ministries throughout her religious life were in nursing and nursing education - in St. Francis Sanatorium, now called St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, New York, and in the Department of Training and Education at Rhode Island Medical Center where she prepared Certified Nursing Assistants for licensure exams. Sr. Cecile taught at Salve Regina College, and English to Hispanic and Vietnamese students.. She was active in her parish music ministry. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on August 25 with a Wake Service at 7 p.m. in Holy Family Chapel, 399 Fruit Hill Avenue, North Providence. On August 26, there will be a Mass of Christian Burial at the Holy Family Chapel at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery. Arrangements by Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home.
