Stanley Zeramby, age 95, of Tiverton, R.I., passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021, at Newport Hospital with 13 of his dearest family members at his bedside. Stanley was the loving husband of Judith M. (Winograd) Zeramby with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Malden, MA., Stanley was the son of the late Jacob and Annie R. (Linsky) Zeramby. Before moving to Tiverton, he had lived in Hanover, MA for many years.
Stanley was a graduate of Malden High School, class of 1944, and the New England College of Pharmacy, class of 1950. He worked as a pharmacist for over 50 years. A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served in World War II as a Fireman First Class on the U.S.S. Saginaw Bay in Okinawa. Stan remained active in veterans’ organizations and has a room named for him at the Veterans Home in West Roxbury. He was also a board member of The Community Friends for Human Services.
Stanley had a passion for history, loved to travel, and explore new places. He enjoyed meeting people and engaging them in conversation on a wide variety of topics. While living in Hanover, he took pleasure in being a member of The Great Decisions Discussions Group. He was a deep thinker, and could make people laugh with his quick and witty one-liners. He surprised people with his beautiful voice as he crooned his favorite tune, “Tonight We Love.” He was also an avid sports enthusiast, never missing a Red Sox or Patriots game. Stanley could always be identified by his Red Sox baseball cap and his smile that lit up a room.
Above all, Stanley was an honorable man whose high moral ethics and integrity earned him the love and respect of his family and friends to whom he was deeply devoted. He will be sorely missed, but his legacy will carry on for eternity along with his good, kind soul.
In addition to his wife, Judith, Stanley is survived by one son, David M. Zeramby of South Kingston, R.I.; one daughter, Jacqueline N. Murdock and her husband Scott of Pembroke, MA.; six grandchildren: Trevor and Brandon Murdock, Jack, Jason, Justin, and Jessica Zeramby; and one niece, Arlyne Zeramby Rosenberg. He was the brother of the late Irwin M. Zeramby and grandfather of the late Jennifer Zeramby.
Relatives and friends are invited to his memorial service to be held on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Sharon Memorial Park, 120 Canton St., Sharon, MA, followed by interment.
Contributions in his memory may be made to The Community Friends for Human Services, P.O. Box 2134, Hanover, MA 02339.
