

She was the daughter of the late Matilda Baptista and Joaquim Vales. She was the beloved mother of Paul Rodgers Jr. of Cranston, Gary and Carl Rodgers both of Johnston, Theresa Rodgers and Robert Silva both of North Providence, Janet (Rodgers) L'Europa and husband Robert of East Greenwich. She leaves behind her loving sisters, Thelma Pinheiro of Pawtucket, Maria Amador of Stoughton MA, and the late Lola Marchand and Carmen Baptista. She also leaves her six grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
Sylvia had been retired for many years and loved to spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed tending to her garden, going out to dinner and shopping. She carried a special concern and loved to help those in need. Loved by all, she will always be remembered for her unique style and grace.
Visitation Monday 4-7 p.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, RI. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Crossroads Rhode Island, 160 Broad Street, Providence, RI 02903.
