

Thomas C. Boyle, 72, President of the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Homes, passed away on Friday, March 8th surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Alzheimers. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Russell J. and M. Rita (Barry) Boyle. He was the beloved husband of Helen M. “Tender” (Reilly) Boyle for the past 46 years.
Tom was born and raised in the Smith Hill section of Providence. He was a proud graduate of LaSalle Academy, Providence College and The New England Institute of Anatomy and Mortuary Sciences. Tom began his career at the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home where he enjoyed a career that spanned more than 50 years offering his kind, compassionate care to every family that entrusted him to care for their loved ones. For Tom, it was a privilege to serve families in need.
A devoted husband, Dad, “Pop” and brother, he leaves his children Sean R. Boyle, Kathryn E. Magaldi and her husband Thomas, and Edward T. Boyle and his wife Kelly. Tom also leaves his three adoring grandchildren, Thomas and Reilly Magaldi and Eleanor Boyle. He also leaves his adoring sister, Janet Welch (Richard), Reilly family siblings Ann Marie (Richard), Edward (Kathleen), Kevin (Maryann) and many nieces and nephews, whom he dearly loved.
Tom lived his life in service to others. He was a man of great faith, the beloved light of his family and his many friends. Tom spent many happy days at the Warwick Country Club, Bonnet Shores Beach Club and was a life-long supporter of his PC Friars. A proud son of Smith Hill, Tom served on the Providence City Council and the Board of Licences.
The Boyle family wishes to extend their profound gratitude for the loving and compassionate care given to Tommy by Ida Odih, Ola Folarin, Carrie Corcoran, and Ami Diarra. Special thanks to the care team from Hope Health Hospice, especially April Woods, and Daniel Amenyo.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 12 at 10:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue to which relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 11 from 3:00 - 7:00 pm in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or the Hope Alzheimer’s Center, 25 Brayton Avenue, Cranston, RI 02920 in his memory will be appreciated.
