Tommy was born in Morristown, Tennessee in 1940, and is the son of the late Kathleen Peebles Fine. He was raised in Wakefield, Virginia, and graduated Wakefield High School, the class of 1958. He later attended Virginia Commonwealth University (then RPI) and graduated with a degree in Sociology and Psychology. He pursued a career in banking and earned a Certificates of Banking from Louisiana State University. In this later years he worked for This End Up Furniture company in Providence, and retired there.
In his retirement Tom was an avid gardener. He enjoyed raising champion tomatoes and giving away his veggies to neighbors. He considered himself thoroughly at home in Providence, and loved cheering for the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. Tom lived his final years on his terms, living independently as long as possible. His family is grateful for the support of his community of friends that included Lucy Feranti and Diane Sousa and others that made his independence possible.
Tom is survived by his two children: his son Thomas E. Christoper Fine and his wife Jill of Greensboro, North Carolina and his daughter Wendell Fine Welder and her husband Austin of Richmond, Virginia. He will be greatly missed and our hearts are full of memories in his absence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s name can be made to: The Wounded Warrior Project online: https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org or by phone: 1.855.448.3997.
