

He was the son of the late Valentino and Fannie (Caruolo) Innocente.
He is survived by his brother, Louis Innocente, sister, Norma DiPetrillo and her husband, Carmine; nephew, Robert DiPetrillo and niece, Carmen Carpenter. He was the brother of the late Pauline Schultheis.
Val retired from the State of Rhode Island, Office of the General Treasurer. He was one of RI’s most notable and recognized baseball coaches. A career that spanned four decades from the Wanskuck Little League to the head coach of Bishop Hendricken High School, Roger Williams University and the coach of the Czechoslovakian Olympic Baseball Team. He was a member of numerous leagues including a past member of the 4th Ward Democratic Committee.
Visitation will be held Sunday 4-8 p.m. with a funeral on Monday at 10 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence followed by a concelebrated mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Graveside burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
